The National Pharmaceutical and BioPharma Expo being held on 26th November at Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, will highlight the key trends and challenges within the two sectors, while also showcasing the latest innovations and developments in best practice, and the technological solutions available.
The UK is a well-established global leader in pharmaceuticals and biopharma. Indeed, seven of the world’s top ten pharmaceutical companies have established a research and manufacturing presence in the UK and there are currently over 500 enterprises in operation. Furthermore, pharmaceuticals remain the highest R&D spending sector in the UK. The biopharmaceutical sector remains an important contributor to UK economic growth, especially as a generator of high value jobs. The pharmaceutical industry in the UK currently employs over 63,000 people with well over a third dedicated to R&D.
Of course, the pharmaceuticals and biopharma sectors are highly complementary, distinguished only by the method by which the drugs are produced.
With a comprehensive conference programme coupled with a wide array of exhibition stands, the National Pharmaceutical and BioPharma Expo will cover the latest developments within the industry as therapeutics and electronics continue to converge. These include advances in cellular/gene therapies and in bioprocessing methods.
The pharmaceuticals and biopharma sectors are continuing to reduce manufacturing and operating costs by embracing new technologies, such as continuous manufacturing, digitisation and analytics, Augmented Reality and Pharma 4.0, in response to the growth in demand for personalised medicines. The National Pharmaceutical and BioPharma Expo will also cover Brexit, which poses a major threat to pharmaceutical research and manufacturing in the UK by potentially driving up manufacturing costs and deterring future investment.
The National Pharmaceutical and BioPharma Expo is one of a number of complementary, co-located events incorporated with the National Healthcare Expo in order to cover the full spectrum of the healthcare industry in the UK. The co-located events include:
– National Medtech & Biotech Summit;
– The Lab and Clean Room Show;
– The National Lifesciences Expo.The National Healthcare Expo and its co-located events will showcase the latest technologies that are impacting and transforming the way in which the healthcare ecosystem in the UK operates. For example, it will demonstrate how digital technologies are supporting the healthcare system’s moves to new models of patient-centred care. Conference speakers and exhibitors will cover a range of new technologies that are helping to improve diagnosis and treatment and enhance the patient experience, such as Blockchain, RPA, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and Virtual Reality.
